Evaluation of vowel [ɑ] in Persian language according to Fant phonetic theory | ||

| Abstract | ||
| Abstract Iranian scholars and linguists described vowel [ɑ] in Persian language in terms of production as a back, low and tense vowel. In addition, Jazayeri (16: 1961) and Samareh (87:1378) in production description of this vowel also considered the round feature. According to Acoustic Phonetics analysis of Bijankhan in vowel formants analysis of [ɑ], the first formant frequency and the second formant frequency of this vowel has calculated 619 Hz and 1167 Hz respectively. Also Sepanta (57: 1377) calculated the first formant and the second formant frequencies to 680 Hz and 1100 Hz respectively. In this study, we have tried to provide the required size of vowel formants for calculation through CT scan imaging. The outcome is the proposed model of vocal tract in production of this vowel in Persian language. Keywords: vowel [ɑ], formant, vocal tract, Fant theory, tube model | ||
